Bharatiya Janata Party’s Andhra Pradesh unit president and Rajahmundry MP Daggubati Purandeshwari’s comments on the Supreme Court’s observations on the ongoing political controversy over Tirupati laddu adulteration issue have evoked strong reaction from the YSR Congress party.
YSRCP general secretary and Rajya Sabha member V Vijay Sai Reddy on Wednesday lashed out at Purandeshwari’s comment that the Supreme Court should not have found fault with chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu for making a public statement on adulteration of ghee used in making of Tirupati laddu.
“Purandeshwari lacks the basic common sense in criticising the highest judiciary body and the judges and disrespecting their observations on Tirupati laddu prasadam issue. This is blatant attack on their reputation and anti-constitutional and contempt of court. The SC should take action against her as per the law,” Sai Reddy said.
Attacking Purandeshwari for blaming it on the Supreme Court, the YSRCP general secretary wondered whether the chief minister, who is holding a Constitutional position, could speak whatever he wanted.
“Don’t you know that judiciary is also a Constitutional body?” he asked.
Sai Reddy said for Purandeshwari, it appeared Naidu was superior to the courts and even Lord Venkateshwara.
“She has so much concern for her brother-in-law and hence, did not hesitate to criticise the judge,” he said.
He alleged that in the last 100 years, nobody had done greater damage to Tirumala than Nara and Nandamuri families.
“Naidu has not only hurt the sentiments of millions of people with his comments on laddu prasadam but also instigated communal hatred. I wonder what more damage one would witness in the coming years,” he regretted.
