The film Toxic has been postponed from March 19 to June 4, with the official reason cited as unrest in the Middle East amid the Iran–USA tensions.
However, industry observers believe there are several other factors behind the delay.
Many see the film as facing tough competition from Dhurandhar 2, which currently appears to have stronger audience interest. Among the two, a large section of the mass audience seems to be leaning toward Dhurandhar 2.
Although the teaser of Toxic initially grabbed attention, the recently released first song, “Tabaahi,” received backlash from viewers.
Instead of building excitement, the track failed to create strong buzz around the film. This lukewarm response has raised concerns about the film’s momentum ahead of release.
Another major factor is the film’s high pre release business. Since Toxic has reportedly been sold at very high prices, recovery could be a challenge. A solo release would help its prospects.
Instead of discussing these issues openly, the makers have attributed the delay to Middle East unrest. They also have a convenient argument if questioned about Dhurandhar 2, since that film is not expected to release in the Middle East due to its anti Pakistan content, similar to its first part.
