Proddutur murder: Lokesh begins, withdraws fast

Telugu Desam Party general secretary and MLC Nara Lokesh, who began his indefinite fast on Wednesday morning in protest against the murder of TDP leader Nandam Subbaiah in Proddatur in Kadapa district on Tuesday, withdrew the same in the night.

Lokesh withdrew the indefinite protest after the police assured that they would include the names of Proddatur MLA Rachamallu Siva Prasad Reddy in the FIR in the TDP BC leader Nandam Subbaiah murder case.

He said after the talks with the police that the local police came and took a fresh statement of slain leader's wife Aparajita Reddy under Section 161.

The DSP concerned gave assurance that her statement would be submitted to the court to get all the names of the accused included in the FIR. Readmore!

Lokesh said that the police officials had given their word to include all the names of the accused as complained by Aparajita within 15 days. If the police failed to do so, the protest would resume again after the deadline.

Aparajita named the MLA, municipal commissioner N Anuradha and MLA's brother-in-law Bangaru Reddy. The TDP would not keep silent if its leaders and activists were targeted or persecuted or eliminated.

Lokesh also warned of serious consequences if anyone tried to threaten or make intimidatory calls to the family members of slain Subbaiah from now on.

Following this, the funeral rites for the mortal remains of Subbaiah would be held on Thursday morning.
