Pranay murder: Politicos shower benefits on widow

The brutal murder of Pranay Perumalla, a Dalit engineer in the hands of a contract killer hired by his father-in-law and realtor T Maruthi Rao last Friday, became an excellent issue for the political parties to gain some mileage in the run-up to the next elections.

While the TRS leadership is silent on Maruthi Rao’s affiliation to the ruling party, it has promised all help to Pranay’s widow Amrutha Varshini.

On Thursday, chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao deputed minister for power G Jagadish Reddy to console Amrutha.

He said Pranay’s murder was shameful to the society and that such incidents need to be avoided, he said that the State government would take steps to ensure that the accused in Pranay’s murder case are given stringent punishment. Readmore!

“A government job would be provided to Amrutha Varshini, Pranay’s wife. Also, agricultural land and a double-bedroom house would be allocated to his family,” he said.

He informed that the government has sanctioned Rs 8.25 lakh towards the immediate expenses of Pranay’s family members. He also extended a cheque for Rs 4.12 lakh to Amrutha Varshini.

On the other hand, Telangana TDP unit chief L Ramana also called on Amrutha and announced that if the Mahakutami came to power in the coming elections, it would provide Rs one crore financial assistance to her.

He also made the promise of providing the government job to Pranay's wife once his party voted to power in Telangana.

The TDP leader lambasted KCR for maintaining silence on such a big incident that shook the entire nation in the recent times.

He demanded the distribution of 50 percent of the property of Amrutha's father in the name of her.
