Irrigation Minister Ambati Rambabu stated on Tuesday that the violent incidents that occurred in parts of Andhra Pradesh during Monday's elections were due to police failures.
"The sheer failure of the police led to violence during the polls," he declared at a press conference.
Areas like Narsaraopet and Palnadu in Andhra Pradesh experienced violence during yesterday's polling.
Rambabu pointed out that the Election Commission of India (ECI) transferred Director-General of Police KV Rajendranath Reddy to ensure the elections were conducted peacefully.
"What then happened during the polling?" he asked, accusing the police of showing bias towards the YSRCP.
"I was kept under house arrest for no reason. When I inquired, the police said they were following instructions. Meanwhile, TDP leader Kanna Lakshminarayana was allowed to visit areas freely and was not placed under house arrest. Isn't this biased?" Rambabu questioned.
He mentioned that such incidents during polling were unprecedented in the history of Andhra Pradesh.
Regarding the increased poll percentage, Rambabu noted that a large number of people, especially women, remained in queues until 6 pm to cast their votes.
He interpreted this as an indication that the YSRCP was heading towards a significant victory, leaving no room for doubt.
