As a protest against the Tirumala Laddu issue, he cleaned the steps of the Vijayawada Kanaka Durga temple.
Many on social media are questioning the connection between these two places, suggesting that if he intended to make a symbolic gesture, he should have done so at Tirumala.
"Bhavani temple has fewer steps compared to Tirumala, so Pawan chose the easier option," wrote one netizen.
Another netizen defended Pawan, writing, "Pawan is in Vijayawada for the shooting of Hari Hara Veera Mallu. He doesn't have time to go to Tirumala right now and chose Bhavani temple steps instead, believing all Sanatana Dharma temples are the same."
A third netizen criticized, "Pawan has completely changed and is now acting as a BJP supporter. He is portraying himself as a champion of Sanatana Dharma in the coalition government, while Chandrababu Naidu is focusing on appeasing Muslims and Christians, diluting his pro-Hindu stance built around the Laddu issue."
Many have also criticized Pawan's recent comments on temple properties, calling them bizarre.
Pawan raised concerns about leaders from the previous government allegedly mortgaging endowment lands and questioned whether they would occupy them.
Making such accusations without providing evidence, especially as the Deputy CM, struck many as unusual.
He stated, "The coalition government will take responsibility for protecting the properties of Tirumala. On this occasion, I appeal to CM Chandrababu to conduct a comprehensive inquiry into the decisions made by previous ruling councils regarding TTD assets."
Many questioned the appropriateness of his allegations.
"Accusations should be backed by evidence. Is it right for Pawan Kalyan to spread rumors about TTD assets?" asked several commentators.
Some also pointed out Pawan Kalyan’s silence on the Visakha Steel issue, where the central government's move towards privatization is affecting thousands of employees and their families.
"Pawan seems to use religious issues for political gain, but he should be cautious, as it may backfire. If he truly believes in God, he shouldn't misuse religion to stir unrest or raise baseless doubts," wrote one netizen.
Many comments suggest that Pawan Kalyan is using religion as a tool to target his political opponent, Jagan, and his actions reflect this approach.
Satirical remarks have also surfaced, implying that Pawan’s role appears to be engaging in caste and religious politics to politically benefit Chandrababu Naidu.
