Pawan in dilemma over alliance with Naidu?

Jana Sena Party chief and power star Pawan Kalyan is said to be in two minds over entering into a strategic alliance with Telugu Desam Party headed by former Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, if reports coming from his camp are any indication.

Pawan Kalyan has remained tight-lipped over the feelers sent by Naidu for an alliance and has not made any comment so far on the statement of the TDP chief that his party had been in one-side love with Jana Sena.

Though Pawan called for a meeting of his party’s state executive committee meeting at Mangalagiri on Sunday, it did not take place and the party sources said it was postponed to a later date on account of growing number of Covid-19 cases in the state.

However, the situation is not yet very alarming in Andhra Pradesh and the meetings of various kinds have been going on uninterruptedly. If not the executive committee meeting, Pawan could have conducted the party’s political affairs committee at least, as it has limited number of people. Readmore!

But he cancelled all his meetings.

“The main reason is that Pawan doesn’t want any kind of discussion to be held in the part over the alliance with the TDP. If he calls for an executive committee meeting or PAC meetings, the issue of Naidu’s comments would definitely come up and Pawan would have to spell out his stand clearly,” a source said.

Apparently, Pawan doesn’t want to spell out his stand at this stage and he would take a call a few months before the assembly elections, as he thinks it would increase his bargaining power.

“If he reacts to the TDP chief’s call now, he should say either yes or no. If he says yes to Naidu’s overtures, he would have to severe ties with the BJP completely. If he says no, he might lose an opportunity to win a few seats in the next elections,” the source said.
