NRI Alert: Pakistanis Targetting Indian Americans

Hatred, jealousy and deep resentment appear to be driving a section of Pakistani social media users who are increasingly targeting Indians living in the United States.

A disturbing trend has emerged where some Pakistan-based handles are trying to damage the reputation of Indian Americans through coordinated online attacks.

These actions reflect a cruel mindset fueled by jealousy over the success and growing influence of the Indian community in the US.

One such example is an X handle named cybergreen09. This account handled by a Pakistani guy allegedly targets Indian-origin professionals and businesses by spreading fabricated allegations.  Readmore!

The handle posts claims suggesting that certain Indian-origin lawyers or professionals are involved in H1B visa fraud by filing fake applications to bring fellow Indians into the US.

These accusations are presented with carefully crafted posts and so-called “evidence” to make the claims appear believable. However, upon proper inquiry, authorities often find such allegations to be baseless.

Despite that, the damage is already done. When names of individuals are publicly circulated and portrayed as criminals, it becomes a matter of public embarrassment for them both in the US and back in India.

Also, that results in racism against Indians in American diaspora, which becomes a dangerous situation down the line.

Such humiliation and racist hatred seems to be the very objective of those running these accounts.

There are reportedly several such Pakistani social media users engaging in similar campaigns.

Some even go to the extent of sharing addresses of Indian Americans and encouraging random social media activists to question them about their immigration status or business practices.

At times, Hindu temples in the US are also targeted, with attempts made to create narratives that Indians are altering demographics or negatively influencing the American ecosystem.

Some American social media personalities unknowingly fall into this trap and amplify these narratives.

The broader intention behind these activities appears to be to portray Indians in the US as people who are exploiting the system through fraudulent means.

By repeatedly spreading false allegations, these groups attempt to demonize the Indian community and create unnecessary trouble.

It is important for both Indian authorities and the Indian diaspora to take note of this trend. Exposing such campaigns and raising awareness can prevent people from believing misleading information.

Sharing and discussing such issues can also help ensure that Indian Americans are not unfairly targeted by coordinated misinformation campaigns.

Please share this information widely, as this is not a routine matter but one that affects the sovereignty of India and the reputation of Indians in the USA.
