No relief for Naidu in the near future?

Telugu Desam Party president and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu may not get immediate relief in the cases filed against him by the Crime Investigation Department of Andhra police.

The Supreme Court, which had a prolonged hearing of arguments in the special leave petition filed by Naidu challenging the filing of case against him on technical grounds, is expected to deliver the judgement on Friday.

However, according to sources, the Supreme Court might defer the judgement to a later date, as the state high court has postponed the hearing on the CID’s case against him pertaining to Amaravati inner ring road case to November 7.

Naidu’s lawyers argued in the state high court that Supreme Court had reserved its judgement on the applicability of Section 17-A of Prevention of Corruption Act and if the judgement came in his favour, it will be applicable to the Amaravati inner ring road case as well. Readmore!

The CID lawyers might use Naidu’s bail petition in the high court as an excuse in the Supreme Court to get the judgement deferred. If the SC doesn’t give judgement on Friday, it might be deferred to the first week of November, as there are holidays for the court till month-end.

Naidu’s lawyers are hopeful that if the SC bench doesn’t give judgement on Friday, it might grant interim bail to Naidu and defer the verdict to post-Dasara vacations.

In the meantime, the CID will come up with the prisoner transit warrants against Naidu in AP Fibernet case and see that he remained in jail for some more time.
