No Question Of Ghar Wapasi, Says Danam!

Former Congress minister and Telangana Rashtra Samithi legislator Danam Nagender on Friday asserted that there is no question of returning to the Congress party and he would continue to sail with the TRS till his last breath.

Nagender, who represents Khairatabad assembly constituency in Hyderabad, was reacting to the reports in a section of media that he might quit the TRS and his assembly membership to return to the Congress.

Speculations were rife that several disgruntled Congress leaders, who had defected to the TRS and the Bharatiya Janata Party in the past, are planning to return to the parent party following the appointment of firebrand MP A Revanth Reddy as the new president of Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee.

In fact, Revanth, in an interview to a television channel, called upon the leaders who had left the Congress to come back into the party. “I will talk to every such leader. You will see ‘ghar vapsee” (home coming) of many leaders soon,” he said. Readmore!

Nagender was a hard core Congress leader and a trusted lieutenant of late Y S Rajasekhar Reddy in the past.

He was even the president of Greater Hyderabad Congress Committee (GHCC) for a long time, before he defected to the TRS months before 2018 assembly elections.

Speaking to media persons on Friday, Nagender said he would remain with the TRS and work under the leadership of KCR.

“What is there in the Congress for me to join? In fact, I faced humiliations in the Congress and I am getting huge respect in the TRS. I don’t require a cabinet post and I won’t ask for it,” he said.

He said, in fact, the Congress leaders should join the TRS for being part of Bangaru Telangana.

“This is my invitation to them,” he said.

Nagender said he had complained to the Cybercrime police against certain social media groups which carried reports that he was joining the Congress.

“There is no future for the Congress and the BJP in Telangana. I joined the TRS only after repenting for being part of the combined AP,” he said.

Lashing out at Revanth Reddy, the former minister alleged that Revanth had bought the PCC chief post by spending money.

“Everybody knows how it works. The senior Congress leaders should have introspection as to how they would work under Revanth Reddy,” he said.
