Former Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) joint director J D Lakshminarayana says there is no need of holding any early elections in Andhra Pradesh, as it causes a huge burden on the people of the state.
Lakshminarayana said there was still two more years’ time for the elections in the state and one failed to understand why some people were trying to generate an election atmosphere in the state.
“Soon after the YSRC plenary, there is the talk that there would be elections six months in advance. I don’t think the people want early elections in the state. Yet, some sections are generating a debate about the early elections, but the political parties are not ready for the same,” he said.
JD said the people elect a government for a full-five-year term to deliver goods. If the elections are advanced, it would cause crores of rupees of burden on them and wastage of money.
“If there is a talk of early elections, it would spoil the mood of the people and the real issues are diverted. The issues of unemployment and the indiscriminate borrowings should be discussed first,” he said.
JD also had a piece of advice to YSR Congress party. He said the ruling party could make the best use of the Presidential elections to bring pressure on the Centre to grant special category status to Andhra Pradesh.
“It is the right opportunity to achieve the goal and do justice to the people,” he said.
