For the last 24 hours, there have been reports in the media that the Telangana government would be providing “Y” category security to former minister and Bharatiya Janata Party legislator Eatala Rajender in the wake of threat perception to his life.
The reports said Rajender would be provided with a bullet proof car along with a 16-member security cover in two shifts.
The decision was taken after the submission of the report by the Cyberabad officials on the directions of BRS working president and state minister K T Rama Rao.
The reports said Medchal deputy commissioner of police G Sandeep on Thursday visited the MLA at his residence in Shameerpet on the outskirts of Hyderabad on Thursday and conducted a study for nearly four hours.
He told Rajender that he would be submit a detailed report to the Cyberabad CP Stephen Raveendra and the DGP regarding the security concerns raised. Accordingly on Friday, he submitted a report stating that there is indeed a death threat to Eatala.
However, there was no such development on Saturday, as no additional security cover was provided to Eatala till evening. Enquiries revealed that the cops did not get the nod from chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.
Four days ago, Rajender’s wife Jamuna alleged that he faces threat to his life from Bharat Rashtra Samithi MLC P Kaushik Reddy. She said the MLC was ready to spend Rs 20 crore for killing her husband.
She alleged that Kaushik Reddy had the backing of KCR and hence, he was behaving arrogantly. She said that if any of her family members are harmed, the Chief Minister will be responsible. Perhaps, this might have angered KCR, sources said.
