Satya and Ritesh Rana’s Jetlee is set for release on May 1st. Cherry of Clap Entertainment bankrolls the project, which also features Vennela Kishore in a key role.
Producer Cherry shares what makes the film stand out. “Nearly 80% of the story unfolds inside a flight, which itself is a very intriguing idea. Telugu cinema hasn’t really attempted a full-length film set entirely on an aircraft. Ritesh is known for his unconventional concepts, and the moment he narrated this story, I liked it instantly.”
He further reveals that the film’s tone evolved during development. “We first conceived it as a serious thriller and even narrated it to a few big heroes. But the story didn’t suit their image—it’s not a typical hero-driven film. That’s when Ritesh decided to shift it into a comedy thriller. Some scenes had a natural quirkiness that needed actors with strong comic timing. When we narrated it to Satya, he hesitated for a moment and asked, ‘Am I the hero?’ But once Ritesh explained the vision, he immediately came on board.”
Cherry is confident about the final output. “We’ve watched the film, and it has turned out wonderfully. Jetlee is a solid comedy thriller. The humour lands perfectly. Satya, Vennela Kishore, Gundu Sudarshan, Ajay- everyone delivers delightful performances. A comedy film isn’t just about laughs; it also needs a strong story, and this film has both. It will definitely work.”
He also reveals his future plans- next, a horror film with Ritesh, followed by Mathu Vadalara 3.
