A week after reports that Mythri Movie Makers is stepping away from mid-range films, another major banner, UV Creations, is also said to be following the same strategy.
Both banners believe that current market conditions are not favourable for medium-budget projects due to poor theatrical response and the lack of strong pull from mid-range heroes.
Producers feel that films in this segment are becoming financially risky, as they are struggling to recover investments.
As a result, Mythri has decided to focus only on two segments—small films under â¹7 crore and big-star projects above â¹100 crore.
Now, with UV Creations also leaning towards this model, the trend is becoming more serious for the industry. If more major banners adopt this approach, mid-range heroes could face a significant career challenge.
They may have to scale down and work in smaller films to sustain themselves. Otherwise, they could be forced to rely on OTT platforms or even consider stepping away, as theatrical opportunities continue to shrink rapidly.
