Jagan obsessed with guns and axes, says Sharmila

Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) chief Y S Sharmila Reddy launched a scathing attack on her brother and former chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy saying he is more obsessed with “guns” and “axes” rather than any vision for the development of the state.

Speaking to reporters, Sharmila said the proposed “Mavigun” concept of Jagan only reflected a mindset centred around violence and destruction.

“If the state capital is to be named “Mavigun” sounding Jagan’s name, then Pulivendula should be renamed after Avinash Reddy as “Avi Goddali,” with a term symbolizing an axe.

She alleged that even in their names, “gun” and “destruction” (Ja-gan and A-vinash) are embedded, indicating the YSRCP’s ideology of “killing, destroying, and annihilating.” Readmore!

She criticized the YSRCP leadership for lacking a developmental vision, stating that neither Jagan nor his party has the mindset to “build or construct.”

“If such thinking existed, the Jal Yagnam projects would have been completed within six months of coming to power,” she said.

Sharmila further alleged that during Jagan’s five-year tenure, not even a single brick was laid for Amaravati as the capital.

She also recalled that the Praja Vedika structure was demolished soon after YSRCP assumed power.

Dismissing the “Mavigun” proposal as a joke, she said the Congress party sees no need to even respond seriously.

“If it is such a brilliant idea, why was it not implemented during the five years in power?” she asked.

She also questioned the earlier proposal of three capitals, asking why it was suggested if “Mavigan” was a low-cost and effective solution.

Reiterating the Congress party’s stand, Sharmila said the party has consistently supported Amaravati, including extending support in Parliament.

She emphasized that the Centre must take responsibility for building the capital as per the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation commitments.

“The Congress party fully supports Amaravati and will extend all possible assistance,” she stated.

On political alignments, Sharmila accused Jagan of maintaining a covert alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

She alleged that Jagan supported all BJP bills in Parliament and acted like its “adopted son,” while lacking the courage to formalize the alliance publicly due to fear of losing his vote bank.

Sharmila also targeted senior YSRCP leader Botsa Satyanarayana, accusing him of insulting her mother Y S Vijayamma in the assembly.

She said Vijayamma was deeply hurt and demanded a public apology from Botsa Satyanarayana.
