The promotions of Dacoit: A Love Story recently took place in Mumbai.
During the event, the film’s lead actress Mrunal Thakur was asked how she chooses her films, especially since many of her roles strongly connect with audiences.
Responding to the question, Mrunal shared an interesting perspective.
She said that whenever she hears a script, she first checks whether the narrative would move forward even without her character. If she feels the story can progress without her role, she rejects the offer.
She prefers to take up projects only when she feels that the story cannot move forward without her character.
This is indeed a clear and thoughtful answer that can serve as a guideline for many actresses.
However, in reality, some actresses feel pressured to do multiple films within a short span of time, considering that the career span for actresses is often perceived to be shorter.
When roles are chosen in haste, they may fail to make a lasting impact. If a performance does not leave an impression, it is quickly forgotten. When it is forgotten, opportunities gradually fade away.
Therefore, patience, courage and clarity in choosing roles are crucial qualities, something Mrunal Thakur appears to follow in her career.
Dacoit: A Love Story is set to release on April 10. The film is directed by Shaneil Deo and produced by Supriya Yarlagadda, with Adivi Sesh playing the lead role.
