The song “Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke” from the film 'KD: The Devil', featuring Nora Fatehi and Sanjay Dutt, has sparked controversy online.
Many viewers criticised the track for its alleged double meaning lyrics and suggestive choreography.
The backlash quickly spread across social media, prompting a response from lyricist Raqueeb Alam, who is credited for the Hindi version of the song.
Raqueeb clarified that he did not originally write the lyrics. According to him, the song was first written in Kannada by the film’s director Prem. He said he only translated the Kannada lyrics into Hindi after the makers insisted.
The lyricist also claimed that he had warned the team earlier that the song might face censorship issues and negative reactions.
He further explained that the song eventually reveals it is about an alcohol bottle, but the lyrics before that point appear inappropriate.
Raqueeb said he had initially refused to write such lines and now feels embarrassed because people believe he created them.
Following the criticism, the makers reportedly asked him to prepare a cleaner version of the song, which they plan to release along with an apology.
