The compensation demand is said to be based on these sunk costs and the delays caused by Ranveer’s sudden exit.

So far, neither Excel Entertainment nor Ranveer Singh has issued an official statement, but the development has triggered intense buzz in film circles.

Ranveer was announced as the new lead of the Don franchise in 2023, set to take over the iconic role earlier played by Shah Rukh Khan in Don (2006) and Don 2 (2011), which also starred Priyanka Chopra.

The franchise originally began with Amitabh Bachchan’s 1978 classic, penned by Salim–Javed, and has since become one of Bollywood’s most recognisable action-thriller series.

Meanwhile, Ranveer Singh is currently focused on Dhurandhar 2, directed by Aditya Dhar, which is scheduled for a theatrical release on March 19.

The film also features Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt and other prominent actors.
