The release of Border 2, starring Sunny Deol as the main lead, ran into last-minute disruptions as several early morning screenings were called off due to delays in content delivery.
Although the film was scheduled to hit cinemas today, the digital print had not been made available to theatre chains until late last night, creating confusion around the 9 a.m. shows.
As a result, many theatres cancelled these screenings and notified audiences who had already booked tickets with “show cancelled” messages.
As per sources, it is revealed that digital service providers, including UFO Moviez, alerted regional distributors and cinema owners last night itself, about a possible delay in the download process.
The report further mentioned that UFO Moviez officially informed exhibitors through a WhatsApp message that the film’s download would only commence on the morning of the release.
The message stated: “Dear all, download of Border 2 will start at 6.30 am tentatively on 23 January, 2026. Please keep the system ON. Thanks. UFO MOVIEZ.”
This delay led to widespread cancellations and postponements of first-day, first-show screenings across several locations. Moreover the length of the film is 3 hr 19 m the download of which consumes longer time than usual.
At the time of writing, neither the film’s producers nor the distributors have released an official statement addressing the issue.
Apart from this issue, the advance bookings are not overwhelming as expected in several centers. Only the public talk and reviews should propel the momentum of this film.
Border 2 features a casting that includes Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, Mona Singh, Sonam Bajwa and Ahan Shetty.
Directed by Anurag Singh, the film has been generating pre-release attention, both due to nostalgia and the war story.
