Political 'Cross Support' Exposed In Telugu States

What was once dismissed as political gossip has now begun to look unmistakably official.

They signal a quiet but visible understanding, making it increasingly clear which political bridges are being built and which alliances are being informally encouraged. Readmore!

In Telangana, the Reddy led government is presently seen operating with strong backing from the Kamma community.

In Andhra Pradesh, a Kamma led government functions with obvious Kapu support. Power today is not just about parties, but about caste alignments quietly shaping the politics of both Telugu states.

Well, there is an important catch here. The Reddy community itself stands divided into two political streams Congress Reddys and YCP Reddys.

In Telangana, Congress Reddys are seen accommodating TDP aligned Kammas, while YCP Reddys are perceived to be accommodating the Velama leaders associated with BRS.

Kammas appear to have no major friction with Reddys as long as Reddys operate under the Congress umbrella. Similarly, Kapus show little resistance to Kamma leadership as long as they remain part of their same political alliance.

Thus, the politically dominant communities Reddy, Kamma, Kapu and Velama seem to be engaged in a form of cross support across party lines.
