Day 4: Prabhas Film Hit by Monday Blues

The Raja Saab, starring Prabhas, faced a sharp slowdown at the box office on its first Monday after a decent opening weekend.

Directed by Maruthi, the horror-comedy had shown encouraging momentum initially but witnessed a steep fall in collections on Day 4.

According to industry tracker Sacnilk, The Raja Saab earned around ₹6.29 crore net in India on Day 4, marking a drop of nearly 67 percent compared to its Sunday collections.

On Day 3, the film had collected ₹19.1 crore net, and with Monday’s numbers added, the film’s total India net collection now stands at approximately ₹114.29 crore. Readmore!

The film has already crossed the ₹100 crore mark, but the weekday trend has raised concerns about its long-term run.

Released on January 9, the film began its journey with paid previews on Thursday, collecting ₹9.15 crore.

It followed up with a strong opening day on Friday, earning ₹53.75 crore, largely driven by the Telugu markets, which alone contributed close to ₹47 crore. The Hindi version added around ₹6 crore, while other languages made marginal contributions.

However, collections dropped sharply on Saturday, with earnings falling to ₹26 crore, a decline of over 50 percent. The downward trend continued on Sunday with ₹19.1 crore, before hitting its lowest single-day figure on Monday.

While the fall was expected due to the working weekday, the scale of the drop has surprised trade circles.

On Day 4, The Raja Saab recorded an overall Telugu occupancy of 24.64 percent. Morning shows opened weakly at 16.20 percent, but footfalls improved slightly as the day progressed.

Afternoon shows registered 25.92 percent, evening shows stood at 26.15 percent, and night shows performed the best with 30.27 percent occupancy.

Produced by People Media Factory and IVY Entertainment, the film features Sanjay Dutt, Nidhhi Agerwal, Malavika Mohanan, Riddhi Kumar and Zarina Wahab in key roles.

With weekdays ahead, all eyes are now on whether The Raja Saab can stabilise its collections or continue to face pressure at the box office.
