James Cameron, widely regarded as one of the greatest directors in world cinema, has delivered some of Hollywood’s biggest blockbusters, with Titanic, Avatar, and Avatar: The Way of Water ranking among the highest-grossing films of all time.
Ever since he watched SS Rajamouli’s RRR, Cameron has been full of praise for the filmmaker, and the two have since shared a warm professional rapport.
Rajamouli is currently working on his ambitious globe-trotting adventure “Varanasi,” starring Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra, aimed squarely at global audiences.
The film’s title glimpse created a massive buzz and trended worldwide, becoming a major talking point on social media.
Adding to the excitement, James Cameron has now expressed interest in Varanasi.
While promoting “Avatar: Fire and Ash” (also referred to as Avatar 3) for the Indian market, Cameron interacted with Rajamouli via a video call.
During the conversation, Cameron enquired about Rajamouli’s current project, jokingly asked whether there would be more “tiger” action, and even expressed his desire to visit the sets of Varanasi.
In a light-hearted moment, Cameron quipped that if the film features tigers or similar elements, Rajamouli should inform him, as he would love to drop by—and even joked about being a second-unit director if such scenes were involved.
The clip from their interaction has since gone viral on social media, with Mahesh Babu’s fans widely sharing it. Varanasi is being made on a massive budget and is expected to hit theaters in 2027.
