The prompt response by the device and the California Highway Patrol ensured that help arrived within minutes, allowing Mr. Dhankar to continue his journey with minimal disruption.

"Got rear-ended by a car while we were at a standstill in traffic on the I-5 yesterday. The car behind was probably a total loss (we are perfectly safe). Apple Watch detected the crash and auto-called 911, and there was an officer on the scene within minutes. We were able to leave in 30 minutes and got to our destination safely. So impressed by Apple Watch and California Highway Patrol," he wrote.

The post, shared a few hours ago, has since garnered over 41,000 views.

Netizens were quick to express relief and admiration. One user wrote, "Glad to know that you and the others are safe. Take care!"

Another commented, "Glad you are safe! Apple Watch did its job well." A third added, "Damn, that sounds horrible. Glad you are okay," while another noted, "This looks so scary! So glad you guys are all ok!"

This isn’t the first time the Apple Watch has been credited with saving a life.

In October, the device proved crucial in detecting an elderly woman’s irregular heartbeat, leading to timely medical intervention.

The advanced health-tracking capabilities of the Apple Watch, including its ECG feature, identified atrial fibrillation, prompting the woman to seek immediate care.

Nikias Molina shared the incident on X, revealing how the Apple Watch Series 10 detected his grandmother's irregular heartbeat.

"My Apple Watch Series 10 detected my grandmother's atrial fibrillation today using the ECG feature. She's now at the hospital and receiving the care she needs. I still can't believe it," he wrote, sharing a picture of the watch alert.

The Apple Watch continues to showcase its potential beyond just fitness tracking, solidifying its reputation as a device that can save lives in critical situations.
