Suriya's Path to Stardom Began with Family Struggles

Did you know that Tamil superstar Suriya entered the film industry due to his family’s financial struggles?

Before he became a household name, he worked in a garment factory, earning just INR 750 every 15 days, which was later reduced to INR 1,200 a month. He spent two to three years in the industry, making around INR 8,000 monthly.

The turning point came when his mother disclosed that she had taken out a loan of INR 25,000 without his father’s knowledge. This revelation was surprising for Suriya, especially since his father was an actor.

Although Suriya had opportunities to act, it was the steady encouragement from Mani Ratnam’s production that kickstarted his career.
