AP: Liquor Sales On Par With Vegetables On Streets

In Andhra Pradesh, an unprecedented expansion of "belt shops" has emerged, in every part of the state.

These belt shops are selling liquor on the streets, akin to how vegetables are sold in local markets. Each liquor shop is reportedly surrounded by around 20 belt shops, with shopkeepers grabbing an extra Rs 20– Rs 30 for quarter bottles.

This unregulated expansion is reportedly orchestrated by local leaders, deamnding Rs 1 lakh from each belt shop owner.
