Producer KE Gnanavel Raja who is coming up with Suriya's 'Kanguva' has revealed that SS Rajamouli is developing the third installment of the Baahubali series.
Gnanavel says that Baahubali 3 is in the works, following the huge success of the first two films. However, it's worth mentioning that both actor Prabhas and writer Vijayendra Prasad had earlier dismissed the idea of a third film in the franchise.
Those who believe in the possibility of Baahubali 3 should think further. While it’s a successful franchise, it has become outdated. An animated series based on the films has already been released, but it failed to make an impact.
On the other hand, even if Rajamouli is considering making Baahubali 3, he’s currently working on Mahesh Babu’s project, set for release in 2026-27.
If he starts Baahubali 3 after that, it wouldn't release until 2031 or so, which seems impractical. By then, it would be similar to the delayed sequel of Indian 2.
Additionally, the looks, age, and public image of the actors from the Baahubali franchise will likely change over time.
The original films came out between 2015 and 2017, and time moves on. Audiences rarely stay interested in the same franchise for years with the same enthusiasm.
Thus, what Gnanavel Raja mentioned should be dismissed as a baseless rumor. He may be using some big names like Rajamouli to promote his own film, Kanguva.
