She is married to Sameer Sharma, an IPS officer of 2011 batch, though he is based out of Delhi. Having started her career as assistant collector in Vikarabad district in 2010, Amrapali held several positions and gained a very good reputation as a sincere, honest and tough officer.

She also worked as a joint secretary the Prime Minister’s Officer in New Delhi during the BRS regime in Telangana, before returning to Telangana after Congress came to power. She has done a very good job as the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation commissioner.

“Having seen her expertise and experience in urban planning, Lokesh is of the view that she can do a better job as the GVMC commissioner and she can put a check on indiscriminate land grabbing in the port city,” sources added.
