Tamil composer and actor Vijay Antony shared his first statement on September 21 following the tragic passing of his 16-year-old daughter, Meera, who died by suicide on September 19.
In his heartfelt message, Vijay Antony paid a moving tribute to his beloved daughter and expressed the profound impact her loss had on him.
On the morning of September 19, Vijay Antony and his wife, Fatima, were confronted with the devastating news of their daughter's untimely demise. She was just 16 years old.
A day after laying their daughter to rest, Vijay Antony took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to share his initial statement since her passing. His emotional post received numerous condolences from well-wishers in the comments.
In his Tamil statement, roughly translated, he expressed:
"My dear friends, my daughter Meera was a loving and courageous girl. She now resides in a peaceful place where there is no room for caste, creed, wealth, envy, suffering, poverty, or enmity. She continues to communicate with me. With her passing, a part of me has also departed. I have now dedicated my time to her memory. I will undertake good deeds in her honor, and she will inspire them."
Meera Vijay Antony's sudden departure shocked many, including those in the Tamil film industry. She was the elder daughter of Vijay Antony and Fatima. Her final rites were conducted at Kilpauk cemetery.
Meera was a high-achieving student who served as the cultural secretary at Sacred Heart Matriculation School in Chennai. Her passing led to a police investigation, and a postmortem examination was carried out in accordance with the required procedures.
