US BO: Godfather Grosses $1M, PS1 Sets Record

Despite garnering decent reviews and ratings, megastar Chiranjeevi’s “Godfather” could not capitalize on the momentum. The film, somehow, didn’t enthuse the US audiences to watch it in the theaters.

When a Vijay Deverakonda film grossed half a million dollars on premiere day, “Godfather” grossed just $319 from premieres. It never went beyond $200k after that.

So, finally, the Chiranjeevi starrer grossed $1 million by end of the first week. The film’s achievement is it didn’t collapse.

#Godfather Tue: $319,131 Wed: $165,284 Thur: $115,276 Fri: $153,804 Sat: $196,894 Sun: $104k Total Gross: $1.05 million

Nagarjuna’s ‘The Ghost’ was a total dud. After RGV’s “Officer”, this is Nagarjuna’s lowest number. “Swathimuthyam”, too, could not gain from good reviews and ratings.

On the other hand, Mani Ratnam’s “Ponniyan Selvan 1” continued its great run. The film scored huge on the second weekend and became the all-time highest-grossing Tamil movie in the USA beating Rajinikanth’s ‘2.0’.

Weekend Collections
#PonniyanSelvan1 (Tamil) - $5.6M
#Godfather - $1.05M
#VikramVedha - $1.6M
#TheGhost - $118k
#Swathimuthyam - $48k
