Nanna Hugged Me After Watching Champion

Young hero Roshan Meka, son of Srikanth, was re-launched on a grand scale with Champion. In an exclusive interview, Roshan spoke about his journey and experiences so far.

Roshan revealed that he made his debut with Nirmala Convent when he was just 16. He later appeared in K Raghavendra Rao’s Pelli SandaD.

“Nanna initially pushed me towards cricket. But after Nirmala Convent, I decided to pursue a career in films. Shooting for Pelli SandaD felt like a picnic. I instantly connected with Michael when I first heard the story of Champion. He’s my kind of guy—cool, easygoing, and a football lover, just like me. Since I’ve loved football since childhood, I felt I could easily pull off the character,” he said.

The young actor shared that he did not show any footage from Champion to his father during the shoot. Readmore!

“To maintain the shock factor, I didn’t show nanna any glimpses of the film. He was thrilled after watching it and hugged me affectionately, saying he didn’t expect such a performance from me.”

Roshan said he was already aware of the hardships of an actor, having frequently visited his father’s film sets.

“I got injured while shooting Rudhramadevi. My shoulder was dislocated during Pelli SandaD. I sustained several injuries while working on Champion as well. Still, I truly enjoy the process.”

He has been receiving appreciation not only for his honest performance but also for his graceful dance moves.

“Since I’ve played sports from a young age, my body is flexible. That helps me perform well in dance sequences,” he explained.

Roshan also revealed that he worked as an assistant director under Prabhu Deva. “It was a great learning experience working as an AD,” he said.

The young hero expressed his happiness at getting the opportunity, early in his career, to work with the trio- K Raghavendra Rao, Ashwini Dutt, and Allu Aravind, who had earlier given his father his first major break as a hero with Pelli Sandadi.
