It’s just a day left for Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu to be referred to as Andhra Pradesh chief minister, if one were to go by the exit poll results.
And he has made one last attempt to retain power – pray the gods to bless him with a second term in the state. On Wednesday, Naidu went to his home constituency Kuppam to take part in Gangamma Jatara and worshipped the presiding deity seeking divine blessings for his victory.
His wife Nara Bhuvaneshwari went to Kuppam a day in advance to take part in the celebrations, while Naidu who had been to Bengaluru on Tuesday night to hold deliberations with Janata Dal (S) leaders H D Deve Gowda and his son Kumaraswamy to discuss the post-results strategy.
The TDP chief held meeting with his party men at Vndavalli to discuss various issues including the developments at ECI during the non BJP parties interaction with CEC, coalition issues, counting strategy to be implemented by candidates and agents and others.
At Kuppam, Naidu and his wife offered `pattu vastrams' (silk clothes) to the presiding deity at the jatara. Later, they went to Bengaluru to fly back to Amaravati, where Naidu would stay put till Thursday evening to monitor the election results.
If the results are in favour of the TDP, Naidu would stay back in Amaravati till the counting is completed to ensure victory of the party.
If there are any signs of the TDP losing power, Naidu will address the media briefly and then leave for Delhi.
