Telugu Desam Party president and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu should be held responsible for the latest proposal of the YSR Congress party government to shift the administrative capital from Amaravati to Visakhapatnam.
This was the opinion expressed by YSR Congress party MLA Thopudurthi Prakash Reddy.
He argued that had Naidu completed at least half of the capital city at Amaravati, the Jagan Mohan Reddy government would not have decided to shift it to Visakhapatnam.
Reddy pointed out that the Naidu government was more interested in indulging in insider trading rather than constructing the capital city.
“Not even an approach road was constructed and it takes a long time to reach the Secretariat from the highway road,” he said.
Even secretariat employees were facing problems to reach secretariat as it was constructed 15 km away from the highway road.
“The capital city could not have been moved had Chandrababu Naidu completed the capital city construction,” he said.
The MLA alleged that the real estate traders were leading the protest on the capital city issue by collecting funds.
“They are all sponsored by the TDP. The yellow media was unnecessarily highlighting the issue. An acceptable decision would come up after the cabinet meeting,” he said.
He said that there could have been no financial issues if the Visakhapatnam was announced as the capital city by the previous government.
