As expected, Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has begun changing the names of all the welfare schemes implemented by the previous YSR Congress Party regime by removing the prefix “Jagananna” from them.
On Tuesday, the Naidu government issued orders to rename existing welfare schemes, removing ‘Jagananna’ from their titles.
However, the government did not add the name “Chandranna” to these schemes, except in a few cases where YSR's name was used.
For example, ‘Jagananna Vidya Deevena’ and ‘Jagananna Vasathi Deevena’ have been renamed simply as “Post Matric Scholarships” without any prefix. ‘Jagananna Videshi Vidya Deevena’ has been changed to “Ambedkar Overseas Vidya Nidhi.”
YSR Kalyana Masthu has been renamed “Chandranna Pelli Kanuka,” YSR Vidyonnathi has been changed to “NTR Vidyonnathi,” and Jagananna Civil Services Protasakam has been renamed to “Incentives for Civil Services Exams.”
More schemes are expected to undergo name changes in the coming days, apparently to prevent any credit from going to the previous administration.
The government also ordered that all the Pattadar passbooks and beneficiary cards for various schemes be reprinted to remove Jagan's picture and YSRCP colors.
