Naidu Jittery Over Media Poll Surveys

The pre-poll surveys being done by various agencies and media houses have started causing jitters in the political parties, notwithstanding their tall claims of emerging victorious in the elections.

Very recently, a couple of national television channels conducted pre-poll surveys in Andhra Pradesh vis-à-vis Telangana.

Both the surveys predicted that the Telangana Rashtra Samithi would return to power in Telangana, but in Andhra Pradesh, ruling Telugu Desam Party would face a bitter defeat in the assembly elections.

The surveys also pointed out that 43 per cent of the electorate prefer YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy as the best bet for the chief minister post, while TDP president and chief minister Naidu could get only 38 per cent vote for the same. Readmore!

Naturally, the surveys caused some sort of panic in the TDP camp. The TDP president rejected the purported surveys by some media organisations.

Speaking to the strategy committee during a tele-conference ahead of the Assembly session on Monday, he said that the Centre was trying to pin down the TDP by adopting a dual strategy.

“Firstly, it is trying to dig out the old cases to trouble me and secondly it is releasing wrong surveys that predict the TDP defeat to demoralize my party cadre,” he said.

TDP MLC and spokesperson Buddha Venkanna said the fabricated surveys by some national media channels, supposedly close to the ruling BJP, were trying to give oxygen to the YSR Congress party which was on a death bed.

“It is ridiculous on their part to predict that the YSRC president would get 43 per cent of votes,” he said.
