Maverick former Congress leader and ex-MP Vundavalli Arun Kumar lacks relevance in present-day Andhra Pradesh politics, yet he consistently seeks attention by making controversial political statements.
On Sunday, Vundavalli described YSR Congress party president and Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu as “rotten tomatoes” in the market, which unfortunately, voters are not refusing to buy.
He noted that people have no other choice but to select either of the two leaders, Jagan or Naidu, as there is no alternative party.
Comparing the situation to a market where every shop sells rotten tomatoes, he stated that people would choose the shop with less rotten tomatoes.
"They will choose the tomatoes from the shop that sells less rotten produce compared to others. Since they have no choice, they select the less corrupt leader," he said.
Vundavalli criticized both Jagan and Naidu for prioritizing the interests of the Bharatiya Janata Party over the state's interests.
He accused them of being afraid to demand special category status for Andhra Pradesh from the Centre, fearing potential legal repercussions.
According to him, both leaders are apprehensive that the Centre might file cases against them.
The former MP noted that every politician faces allegations in one case or another.
He cited the example of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who claims to be a clean politician but has been implicated in various cases.
Additionally, he mentioned Kejriwal's cabinet colleague Manish Sisodia, who introduced education reforms but has been in jail for the past year.
