YSR Congress party on Friday alleged that the Telugu Desam Party-led National Democratic Alliance government in Andhra Pradesh has deliberately provided him with an old vehicle for YSRCP president and former chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, compromising on the latter’s security.
In a statement, the party said the N Chandrababu Naidu government allocated an old bulletproof vehicle to Jagan Mohan Reddy during his tour to Vinukonda in Palnadu district, where he was going to console the family of party worker Sheik Rasheed, who was killed allegedly by a TDP worker on Wednesday night.
Jagan was initially planning to travel by helicopter to Vinukonda, but due to inclement weather, the YSRCP chief was forced to go by road.
During his travel to Vinukonda, the bulletproof vehicle broke down and the air-conditioner in the vehicle was not working.
“Jagan immediately switched to a private vehicle provided by the YSRCP leaders. Several other party leaders also accompanied him to Vinukonda in their respective cars,” the party statement said.
The party further alleged that the state government had suddenly reduced security of Jagan from the night before his visit. The government removed convoy vehicles overnight.
“The police created obstacles at every step of Jagan Mohan Reddy's convoy on the way to Vinukonda. They were stopping the convoy at various points. Senior leaders from Jagan's party were being obstructed by the police to travel along with the leader. Even journalists who were accompanying Jagan in his convoy to Vinukonda were also stopped,” the party said.
