Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Friday reacted strongly to the sudden transfer of chief secretary A C Punetha by the Election Commission apparently on disciplinary grounds.
Naidu was in the midst of a road show at Kancharapalem in Visakhapatnam district, when the news about Punetha’s transfer reached him. He immediately raised his voice and strongly condemned the transfer.
“What mistake did the chief secretary commit? He was transferred for no fault of his. The Election Commission is dancing to the tunes of Narendra Modi government. Earlier, it transferred intelligence chief and two SPs. It is a conspiracy to demoralise me and help the YSR Congress party,” Naidu alleged.
He alleged that Modi had been targeting him and his party, just because he was fighting for the rights of the state.
“I did not surrender to Modi meekly. That is why, he is singling me out and targeting me,” he said.
Naidu reminded that for the last few days, Modi has been directing central agencies like Income Tax department, Enforcement Directorate and the police forces to conduct raids on the TDP leaders.
“Tomorrow or day after, they may even arrest me and send me to jail. But I am not afraid. I am ready to go to jail for the sake of the people. I am only fighting for the just rights of the state,” he said.
