Later, then Vigilance superintendent of police P Joshua conducted a raid on the stone crushing unit and threatened to close down the unit by levying a penalty of Rs 50 crore, if Rao did not compromise with the minister.
“Finally, the matter was settled by Rajini’s brother-in-law Vidadala Gopi. Accordingly, I had to pay Rs 2 crore to her, besides Rs 10 lakh to Gopi and another Rs 10 lakh to Joshua,” Rao said.
He also complained that the Vigilance SP had warned him of dire consequences, if the matter was disclosed to anyone.
