Generally May is the month that sees more releases owing to the summer holidays. But when compared to the previous months, the total number of films released in the month of May are not more than 17. Out of these there are two big hits. While Sarkaru Vaari Paata has shown its domination, the film F3 continued the spree by pulling more audiences to theaters.
Ashoka Vanamlo Arjuna Kalyanam, Bhala Thandanana, Jayamam Panchayati were the films that were released in the first week of May. Out of these Vishwak Sen's 'AVAK' could get good talk but commercially couldn't cross the winning line. By the time word of mouth publicity started working for this film, the arrival of Sarkaru Vaari Paata marred the prospects.
Suma's 'Jayamma panchayati' was also released in the same week, where she could bring many stars for the promotion activities but failed to pull the audience to theatres. Thus the film miserably failed at the box office.
Sri Vishnu continued his saga of flops with 'Bhala Thandanana' again. He is actually known for picking up the right entertainers but this time it is proved that he failed in picking up the right story.
'Sarkaru Vaari Paata' was released in the second week of May in almost 80% of theaters. Though the expectations were very high it ended up with mixed talk. Within a day Siva Karthikeyan's 'Don' was released, but in the wave of Sarkaru Vaari Paata this has gone unnoticed. Otherwise, it would have become another 'Varun Doctor'.
The third week of May was a dry week. Though the films like Sekhar, Degala Babji, Dhagad Samba were released none could stand at the box office. Though 'Sekhar' was a remake of an acclaimed Malayalam film, the court case stopped the film on the second day, killing the box office journey completely.
Bandla Ganesh's 'Degala Babji' and Sampoornesh's 'Dhagad Samba' were totally ignored by the audience.
The last week of May has seen 'F3' which turned out to be an entertainer with mixed talk. But eventually it started picking up. The other film that released this week was 'Black' by Aadi Saikumar which has bitten the mud.
Coming to OTT, Keerthy Suresh's 'Chinni' couldn't pull the attention much though Keerty scored good points for her performance.
On a whole Mahesh Babu dominated May 2022 with his Sarkaru Vaari Paata.
