The sudden suspension of senior IPS officer and former state intelligence chief A B Venkateshwar Rao on the charges of irregularities in procuring critical intelligence and surveillance contract to favour his son is sending shivers down the spine of several other officers who had called shots during the Telugu Desam Party regime.
While IRS officer Jasti Krishna Kishore, who was heading the Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board during the Chandrababu Naidu regime, has already faced suspension for misusing the government funds, Naidu’s personal secretary P Srinivasa Rao has already been grilled by the Income Tax department authorities following the inputs given by the state government.
Many other IAS officials who were in the close circuit of Naidu have already been shunted to insignificant postings and their functioning during Naidu regime is also under critical examination.
The latest action against Venkateshwar Rao is said to be creating panic among other officials. They are worried when they would get notices from the government.
“Definitely, Jagan will not leave those who had favoured Naidu and acted against YSRC during the previous regime. They should only be counting days when they get the notices from the government,” sources said.
