Lawyer couple murder: Why police let off Madhukar?

The Ramagundam police in Telangana, who arrested Telangana Rashtra Samithi leader and former MLA Putta Madhukar in Bhimavaram in Andhra Pradesh’s West Godavari district, after intense search for him for over a week, surprisingly let him off after questioning him for three days.

Madhukar was arrested in connection with the murder of advocate couple – Gattu Vaman Rao and P V Nagamani near Manthani in February, after he went absconding for about 10 days.

It is learnt Madhukar was also grilled for his links with former health minister and TRS MLA Eatala Rajender. Both of them had done several land transactions together.

Since the TRS government is specifically targeting Eatala for turning a rebel against party boss and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, Madhukar also has become a target for the government. Readmore!

In the normal course, the police have to produce Madhukar in the court and send him to judicial remand in the advocate couple murder case. But the police quietly let him off from the custody late on Monday night, but asked him to appear before investigators as and when it is required.

While the police sources say they could not get any strong evidences to prove the involvement of Madhukar in the advocate murder case as he had stoutly denied all the charges of the police, there is also a talk that he was let off under pressure from the top bosses.

It is suspected that Madhukar has agreed to disclose all the transactions of Eatala and cooperate with the police.

He also reportedly told them that he would be totally loyal to the TRS leadership and there was no question of going after Eatala. He agreed to cut off all his association with Eatala.

“That could be the reason why the police were soft towards him and released him from the custody,” sources said.
