Remember Anandaiah, who hit the headlines in May-June this year by popularising the “wonder” medicine supposedly to cure Covid-19?
After popularising his medicine with the support of the Jagan Mohan Reddy government in Andhra Pradesh, the self-styled Ayurvedic practitioner from Krishnapatnam in Nellore district, is now developing political ambitions.
On Tuesday, Anandaiah announced that he would soon launch a new political party in Andhra Pradesh, as a political alternative to ruling YSR Congress party led by chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.
“I am planning to float a new regional party with the support of all caste organisations who have been helping me all these days. I also have the support of several national leaders representing weaker sections,” Anandaiah said.
He is also contemplating going into people by taking up a rath yatra in April and May next year to popularise his political party.
For the last few days, Anandaiah has been alleging that the YSR Congress party government has not extended any cooperation to him in the distribution of his Krishnapatnam medicine. Yet, he could distribute the medicine to all people in the entire Andhra Pradesh and become very popular.
Maybe, Anandaiah thought his popularity would fetch him votes in the elections. It is yet to be known who is behind him and who is going to fund him.
