Komatireddy Blesses Sharmila, But To Remain In Cong

Former minister and Congress party MP from Bhongir Komatireddy Venkat Reddy sprang a surprise on Thursday when he extended his best wishes to Y S Sharmila, sister of Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, on the launch of her new political outfit YSR Telangana Party in the evening.

Komatireddy, who has been sulking ever since the Congress high command appointed firebrand leader A Revanth Reddy as the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president, stopped at JRC Convention Centre where the arrangements for the launch of Sharmila’s party were being made.

He paid tributes to the portrait of late Y S Rajasekhar Reddy, Sharmila’s father and former chief minister of combined Andhra Pradesh, and interacted with her followers.

He said he had received invitation from Sharmila for the party launch programme and wished her all the best for her political career. Readmore!

Later at Bhongir, Komatireddy declared that he would not quit the Congress party.

“In fact, I received invitations from various other parties, but I don’t want to change parties, just because I haven’t got a post. I will remain in the Congress party,” he said.

The former minister called upon the party leaders and cadres to give up groupism and work unitedly for the victory of the party.

“You cannot win elections sitting in Gandhi Bhavan, but to go into the people to win their confidence. Collective efforts are needed to defeat KCR,” Komatireddy said.
