Kishan Reddy Gets Promotion In Modi Cabinet!

Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader from Telangana and Union minister of state for home G Kishan Reddy has got a pleasant surprise on Wednesday.

He has been given the promotion in the Narendra Modi cabinet being expanded this evening.

Kishan Reddy has been elevated to the cabinet rank and so, he would be sworn in again as the Union cabinet minister.

He would get another portfolio, which would be decided later in the evening. Readmore!

Incidentally, Kishan Reddy would be the first cabinet minister from Telangana state.

After the formation of Telangana, Bandaru Dattatreya was the first one from the state to be sworn in as a minister in Narendra Modi cabinet, but he, too, was of the minister of state rank.

Even during the combined Andhra Pradesh regime, there were not many from Telangana who rose to the cabinet rank. S Jaipal Reddy held several portfolios and present Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao held the portfolio of labour and employment.

Earlier, former chief minister Marri Channa Reddy was the Union cabinet minister for steels and mines, while G Venkatswamy was Union cabinet minister for labour.

Of course, P V Narasimha Rao also held several portfolios as cabinet minister before becoming the Prime Minister of the country.

But after the formation of Telangana state, Kishan Reddy will be the first cabinet minister at the Centre. It is definitely an honour for him and the state!
