Andhra Pradesh Christian joint action committee (JAC) chairman Yelamanchili Praveen on Wednesday warned evangelist Brother Anil Kumar against making any attempt to enter into the politics of Andhra Pradesh.
Speaking to media at Tirupati, Praveen said it was ridiculous on the part of Brother Anil to consider launching a political party in Andhra Pradesh.
“We are surprised to know how an evangelist like Anil Kumar has turned into a politician. This is unpardonable,” he said.
The Christian JAC chairman suggested that it would be better for Brother Anil to confine himself to Telangana, if at all he has any interest in politics.
“Your wife has already launched a party in Telangana and you can take care of its activities there. Don’t poke your nose into Andhra Pradesh politics,” he said.
Praveen also wondered how Brother Anil Kumar, who belongs to upper caste, could ever think of uplifting the OBC, SC and ST communities in Andhra Pradesh.
“He has no locus standi in political scenario in the state,” he said.
He reminded that former chief minister Y S Rajasekhar Reddy had introduced Brother Anil Kumar as the messenger of peace to the world, after the fall of evangelist K A Paul.
“So, Anil should confine himself to spreading the evangelism. We politely warn him against entering into Andhra politics,” Praveen added.
