Nobody knows better than Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao in understanding the importance of money power in electoral politics.
In any constituency, if the rival candidate is a rich politician, KCR looks for another potential rich man to fight the battle.
In Chevella parliamentary constituency, for instance, the TRS president is understood to have chosen a rich industrialist to fight the coming Lok Sabha elections against industrialist-turned-politician Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, who defected from the TRS into the Congress before the last assembly elections.
Vishweshwar Reddy, one of the richest MPs in the country, is the son-in-law of Apollo Group chairman C Pratap Reddy and he comes from a strong political background. Since he has joined the Congress, the TRS chief was looking for another strong and rich candidate.
According to sources, KCR has zeroed in on Dr G Ranjith Reddy, a prominent industrialist with a turnover of hundreds of crores.
He has been associated with the TRS for quite some time. Promoter of Sri Rajeshwara Group of Companies, in partnership with A Tirupati Reddy, Ranjith started off with poultry business in 1996 and then forayed into education and real estate sectors.
He has promoted Geethanjali College of Engineering and Technology and recently established RVM Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Center at Shamirpet.
Now, he is going to enter politics by contesting on behalf of the TRS to contest from Chevella Lok Sabha seat.
It remains to be seen whether he would be able to take on Vishweshwar Reddy and win the Chevella seat.
