KCR calls cabinet meet again: What's up?

As if confirming the ongoing talk over the early elections to Telangana state assembly, Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday called for an emergency cabinet meeting.

According to a communique from the General Administration Department in the evening, all ministers, secretaries and departmental heads have been asked to be prepared to attend the cabinet meeting to be held shortly.

“Though the date of the cabinet meeting has not been mentioned in the communication, it is likely to be held on Tuesday evening itself. It will be announced probably by Monday night, after the return of the chief minister from Delhi,” a secretariat source said.

There are different versions of the decision to call for the emergency cabinet meeting. One, KCR will take some crucial administrative decisions including announcement of various sops for different sections of the people in the wake of elections.

Secondly, the cabinet is being called to give a formal approval for the dissolution of the Telangana assembly and it will be communicated to Governor E S L Narasimhan immediately.

Third, the cabinet meeting might have been called to decide the dates of state assembly session, which will be held to pass certain important bills before KCR goes in for the dissolution.

In any case, the suspense on early elections will be over probably by this week end, say party sources.
