Janhvi Kapoor has made a candid and personal revelation about her past battle with alcohol addiction, sharing how she worked her way through a difficult phase.
Speaking at an awareness event, she stressed that addiction should be seen as a mental health issue rather than a moral failure.
She urged people not to treat those struggling with substance abuse as criminals, highlighting that stress, anxiety, and emotional pressures often push individuals toward such habits.
Reflecting on her journey, Janhvi said what began as casual drinking slowly turned into dependency. She described alcohol as a “villain” in her life that gradually took control before she realised it.
The turning point came when she started waking up with severe hangovers and developed a strong dislike for even the smell of alcohol. That phase forced her to confront the reality of her situation.
She added that addiction feels like living with an unfamiliar presence that affects behaviour and relationships. It made her more withdrawn from friends and family, until she consciously decided to change.
Janhvi emphasised that overcoming addiction requires awareness, effort, and continuous support.
On the work front, she will next be seen alongside Ram Charan in Peddi, directed by Buchi Babu Sana.
