Whenever there is an opportunity, Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president Y S Sharmila doesn’t hesitate to attack her brother and YSR Congress party president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy with strongest words.
Though she has not been targeting Jagan much, she got an opportunity to take pot shots at her brother again on Friday, when she came to Visakhapatnam to take up a silent protest against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s silence on the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant issue during his visit to the port city on Wednesday.
“One can understand the Telugu Desam Party’s silence on the steel plant issue as it is in alliance with the BJP at the Centre. But what happened to Jagan? Why is he silent on Modi’s betrayal of the state on steel plant issue?” she asked.
Sharmila said while the TDP alliance with the BJP is legitimate, Jagan's alliance is illegitimate.
She criticized Jagan for aligning with the BJP despite being the son of Rajasekhar Reddy.
“Why didn’t the Prime Minister speak about the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant during his recent tour and why did Jagan remain silent?” she asked.
During her visit to Visakhapatnam, Sharmila unveiled a poster titled ‘Jai Bapuji, Jai Bhim, Jai Samvidhan’ (Hail Gandhi, Hail Ambedkar, Hail Constitution).
She questioned, 'What is wrong if Congress chants Ambedkar's name?'
She accused the BJP of being intolerant when someone speaks about Ambedkar. She alleged that the BJP insulted Ambedkar and announced her silent protest against this insult.
Sharmila emphasized that only Congress fights against BJP’s anti-people policies in this state and reminded everyone that she alone continues the struggle here.
