The announcement of affiliated committees for Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee by AICC president Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday seems to have come as a big blow to firebrand leader and ex-MLA from Kodangal A Revanth Reddy.
Reddy was expecting that he would be made the chairman of PCC campaign committee.
He told the party high command that he was more vocal than any other leader in the PCC and that he knew the ins and outs of Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Ra.
He assured that he would take up the responsibility of leading the campaign across the length and breadth of the state.
However, senior Congress leaders in the PCC are learnt to have told Rahul Gandhi that Revanth, being a new entrant into the party, cannot be allowed to head the campaign committee.
They brainwashed the high command that Revanth would make it a one-man show and would dominate all the campaign, reducing the seniors to non-entities.
Apparently, Rahul went by the advice of AICC in-charge of Telangana R C Khuntia and PCC chief Uttam Kumar Reddy and took Revanth off the campaign committee.
Instead, PCC working president Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka was made the chairman of the campaign committee, supported by D K Aruna, Dasoju Sravan and 14 others.
Revanth was given the post of PCC working president along with Ponnam Prabhakar. In fact, Revanth was offered the post long ago and he flatly rejected the same, saying he could not prove anything by accepting the post.
Now, it remains to be seen whether Revanth will accept the post or keep off from the PCC committees.
